Walnut Dining Table and Chairs

This is a six seater dining table made in American Walnut. The design features a large elliptical top, which is both practical and attractive, supported by curved legs. The table is finished in Danish oil, to a high build, which, like the chairs, really enhances the richness of the grain. The table is entirely made in solid timber, including the legs which were laminated using thick constructional walnut veneer. The design was produced to promote fine dining, whilst bringing a touch of elegance to any dinner party.

Frame

The large elliptical table top is supported by a framework of eight laminated legs, each bent and formed individually to create the pedestal effect. This not only looks attractive, but means none of the diners will encounter a table leg while seated. The legs are all jointed into the bearers, which hold the table top in place, and into the feet, which keep the table stable. The frame is secured to the table top with buttons; these are small wooden parts which secure the top firmly, but still allow the solid wood top to move as it acclimatises to your home atmosphere. The frame is collapsible, with the use of a single Hex key, to enable easy transport and storage.

American Walnut

American walnut (Juglans nigra) was chosen for this design for its richness of colour and structure. It adds elegance and enhances the feeling of fine dining, which is key to the specification of this project. This timber is tough and durable, adding to the longevity of the table, and it is beautiful to work, so making this piece from solid timber really was a joy.

Walnut Dining Chair

One of a set of six dining chairs designed for use with a matching table. These chairs are made in American Walnut and upholstered in fine Scottish leather. The design features an uncomplicated solid walnut frame, designed to be strong, yet elegant. The frame is embellished with a well upholstered seat squab and back rest shaped to match the contours of the occupant’s back. The frame is finished in a high build of Danish oil enhancing the richness of the timber and providing a contrast against the leather upholstery.
