I have always loved making, the process of turning my ideas into reality, and being able to solve problems through design; all this coupled with my love for timber led me into higher education, and I went on to enroll on the Furniture Design & Craftsmanship course at Buckingham Chilterns University College in 2004.  Here I spent three wonderful years learning about all aspects of furniture making and design.  I was proud to graduate from the course in 2007 with a first class honours degree.

On leaving university I worked for two well established furniture makers where I honed my skills and gained experience.  During this time I worked on many projects, from free standing desks made from exotic timbers, to fully fitted wardrobe schemes where every detail had to be considered.

It had always been my goal to one day run my own workshop, and in 2009 I decided that the time was right.  I opened the doors to Nick Geard Furniture in the November that year, and haven't looked back since.  Nick Geard Furniture became incorporated in 2013, taking on its first member of staff, who continues to assist in the making of our various commissions.

We continue to be based in Charlwood, Surrey, and have recently expanded our workshops which are equipped to make all sorts of furniture, free standing or fitted, in any style.  Our machines can cope with projects of all sizes, from a jewellery box to a custom fitted kitchen and bespoke joinery.  Every project is made with precision, whether it be via our wide range of machinery, or crafted from traditional hand tools.

Today the Company designs and manufactures all manner of furniture for the domestic and commercial markets.  We really enjoy using our traditional cabinet making skills to create fine pieces from beautiful timbers.  We are also equally happy to build whole room schemes to the most modern style employing contemporary materials and processes.

Every project begins with an informal meeting to discuss your requirements.  A design is then developed, often with a subsequent meeting, to enable a formal quotation to be produced.

We also encourage visits to the workshop to see you new furniture taking shape.  We believe that it is important to share our progress and excitement for the project in this way, and gives the client another opportunity to ask questions and see their new furniture being realised.  Once completed, we will deliver and install your new furniture into your setting.
